Historical background of the M.A. program in Austria

In 1993 the University Board of the City College decided to recognise the training course at the Pedagogical Academy in Austria as the basis for a Master of Arts study course, prompted by the initiative of Dr. Alfred Posamtier, the Associate Dean of the School of Education at the City College. At the beginning of 1994, Mathematics and English teachers were informed of plans to introduce two study courses in Mathematics and English respectively in Austria. By June 1994 final preparations had been made and four professors from City College flew to Vienna to run the first two modules in English and Mathematics.
