Certification for Online Teaching

 

This program is completely online.

This 12-hour program includes coursework in curriculum and instruction, specifically educational media, that prepares licensed teachers interested in teaching online.

 

Start: March 2021 / End: December 2021 

Fees : € 5.000 for the full program ( Registration fees € 200 included).

Students receive proof of payment for tax reduction purposes.

Administrative support during the entire time of study by the AAECA, Vienna.

Course Description

 

EDMD5033: Introduction to Instructional Technology

A comprehensive overview of how to integrate technology effectively into teaching to promote student learning, increase their own productivity, communicate and collaborate among colleagues, staff, parents, students, and the larger community. The is a project-based course that addresses these activities in light of the principles of how people learn with technological tools and the national and international standards frameworks.

 

EDMD5043: Foundations of Online Curriculum Design and Evaluation

This course presents an overview of curriculum development and an introduction to the Instructional Systems Design Model. Participants will learn to design and evaluate curriculum, develop instructional materials, assess student learning and measure instructional outcomes for use in online classes for K -12. Topics include preparation of course outlines and syllabi, development of lessons plans, design of evaluation instruments and an explanation of how learning objectives and evaluation strategies affect the selection of content and materials.

 

EDMD5053: Online Course Development with Multimedia

This course will introduce participants to study of the latest techniques and software to enhance the creation and design of online learning courses or programs. This class will present an overview of graphics, audio, video, Flash, and other multimedia used to develop online learning activities. This course will also introduce students to audio and video technologies, general multimedia tools and those specialized in accessing learners with disabilities. Participants will be introducing to the concepts of streaming vs. progressive download vs. download, different multimedia, streaming formats and illustrated audio.

 

EDMD5063: Advanced Curriculum Design for the Online Classroom

This class examines elements of effective instructional design for the online learning environment. Students will learn how to create tailored instructional models based on course objectives, target audience, subject matter content, class management and assessment methods. This course will study the design of effective, reliable assessment techniques and evaluation models for online learning. The course is comprised of three major phases of the design process (Analysis, Design, and Development) that guide students through converting or developing course material for an online course.

Participants in this course will also create a capstone project focusing on their lessons from throughout the entire Teaching Online certificate program. This course will focus on student’s progress and practical application to current or prospective work opportunities. Students will work collaboratively with an advisor before submitting their final project.

Masterlehrgang ‘Master of Arts – Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)’

 

Im Jänner 2020 beginnt ein Masterlehrgang zum “Master of Arts – Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)“.

Dieses Programm wird von der Austrian-American Educational Cooperation Association (AAECA) – gemeinsam mit der öffentlichen amerikanischen Arkansas Tech University – durchgeführt.

Der M.A.  in TESOL  ist eine weltweit anerkannte Ausbildung. Sie findet Anerkennung für Lehrer*innen, die Englisch als Fremd-bzw. Zweitsprache unterrichten, so z.B.  in  US K12 Schools (6-18), sowie in vielen Ländern in Sprachinstituten, Privatschulen, Universitäten, etc.

Die Kurse des Lehrganges sind  berufsbegleitend und komplett ONLINE. Sie werden von amerikanischen ProfessorInnen geleitet.

 

Zielgruppen

  • Englischlehrer*innen, die ihre fachliche Kompetenz vertiefen und erweitern wollen
  • Englischlehrer*innen, die Englisch als Arbeitssprache verwenden oder verwenden wollen
  • Englischlehrer*innen, die u.U. die Absicht haben, Englisch als Zweit- bzw. Fremdsprache im Ausland  zu unterrichten

 

Organisatorisches

  • Beginn des  Lehrganges: Jänner 2020 –  Ende: Dezember 2021
  • Dauer: 4 Semester  / 10 ONLINE Kurse

 

Der M.A. TESOL bietet

Österreichisch-Amerikanische Sommerakademie – Englisch für den professionellen Gebrauch

 

English for Professional Use wird gemeinsam von der AAECA und der University of New Mexico organisiert. Das Programm, das in Laaben (Niederösterreich) stattfindet, richtet sich an Englischlehrer*innen von Primary Schools (VS), Secondary Schools (NMS) und High Schools (AHS). Unter dem Motto “English Only” bietet das Seminar eine einzigartige Gelegenheit, Einblicke in Leben und Institutionen in Amerika sowie in das amerikanische Bildungssystem zu gewinnen.

 

Highlights des Programms:

  • Einblicke in Leben und Kultur in Amerika durch das Lesen von Kurzgeschichten und ausgewählten Texten
  • Diskussion von Trends und Besprechen aktueller Themen im amerikanischen Schulsystem

 

Die Teilnehmer*innen verbringen eine Woche in der Gruppe zusammen mit den Referent*innen. Ein wichtiges Ziel ist es, die eigenen Lehrmethoden und die Anwendung des neu erworbenen Wissens im Unterricht zu reflektieren. Die Teilnehmer*innen sind als UNM-Studierende für diese Veranstaltung registriert und haben Zugang zum offiziellen Webportal der Universität. Darüber hinaus erhalten sie 3 amerikanische Credits (entspricht 6 ECTS) von der UNM für den erfolgreichen Abschluss dieser Trainingseinheit.
